A Saanich Peninsula Photographer, Close to Home

Where I photograph, from my home base in North Saanich down to Saanich and Oak Bay.

family photo session outdoors on Vancouver Island, Service Areas

My home base is North Saanich, so the Saanich Peninsula is where most of my sessions happen. I love working close to home. It means I know how the light falls through the seasons, and I can usually suggest a few places within a short drive of your front door.

I also photograph regularly in Saanich and Oak Bay, and I’m happy to talk about locations further afield. Whether we meet at the beach, in the forest or in your living room, the session is the same: relaxed, unhurried and focused on the connection between you.

Below is a quick guide to the communities I serve, with links to pages that go into more local detail.

The Saanich Peninsula First

The Saanich Peninsula sits north of Victoria, with Saanich Inlet along its west side and Haro Strait to the east. It takes in North Saanich, the Town of Sidney, Central Saanich and the northern part of Saanich. It’s also home to Victoria International Airport and the Swartz Bay ferry terminal, which makes it an easy meeting point for family arriving from off-Island.

What I love most here is the variety packed into a small area. In one afternoon you can move from farm fields to forest trails to the shoreline. That variety means we can match the backdrop to your family, whether you’d love the sound of the waves, mossy trails or long golden grass.

  • North Saanich: my home base, with a rural, agricultural feel and ocean shoreline on three sides. Horth Hill and Coles Bay are both here.
  • Sidney: the Peninsula’s seaside town, a lovely option when you’d like an ocean backdrop close to shops and home.
  • Central Saanich: including Brentwood Bay and Saanichton, plus the long sandy shoreline at Island View Beach.

Saanich and Oak Bay

Heading south, I also work throughout the District of Saanich and in neighbouring Oak Bay. These are wonderful options if you live closer to the city or simply want a different backdrop for your photos.

  • Saanich: from the seaside community of Cordova Bay to Gordon Head and Royal Oak, plus PKOLS (Mount Douglas Park) and plenty of neighbourhood parks.
  • Oak Bay: a neighbouring municipality that borders Saanich near Cadboro Bay and shares the University of Victoria campus with it.
  • In-home sessions anywhere in these areas, which are a great choice for newborns and for families who’d rather stay put.

Travel and Locations Further Away

Travel fees may apply for locations farther than 25 km from North Saanich. Just tell me where you’re hoping to go when you reach out, and ask me for the details.

If you don’t have a spot in mind yet, that’s completely fine. Once you’ve booked, we’ll pick a location together during your free style and location consultation, and I’ll share a few of my tried-and-true places that suit your family, your season and your session type. You can also send me a message with any questions first.

Areas I photograph

I highly recommend Alyssa Orrego for all photography needs! She has done both my personal family photos and action photos for business marketing. She is extremely professional and the results speak for themselves. She delivers excellent photos!

Questions families ask

Do you only photograph on the Saanich Peninsula?

The Peninsula is my home base and where most sessions happen, but I also photograph throughout Saanich and Oak Bay. If you have somewhere else in mind, ask and we’ll see what works.

Is there a travel fee?

A travel fee may apply for locations more than 25 km from North Saanich. Ask me for the details when you reach out and tell me where you’d like to go.

Can you come to our home?

Yes. In-home sessions are available for families, maternity and newborns, and they’re often the easiest choice with a brand-new baby or busy toddlers.

We’re visiting family on the Peninsula. Can we still book?

Absolutely. Visiting family is one of the best reasons to get everyone together for photos. Reach out with your dates and I’ll share my availability.

How do we choose a location if we don’t know the area well?

Tell me what you love, whether that’s the beach, the forest, open fields or home, and how mobile everyone is. I’ll suggest a few places on the Peninsula or in Saanich that suit your family and the time of year.
