Professional Headshots in Victoria, BC
Warm, approachable headshots that look like you on a really good day, without the stiff, awkward feeling.

Your headshot is often the first impression people have of you. It sits on your website, your professional profiles, your email signature and your speaker bio. If the one you’re using is a cropped vacation photo or a picture from ten years ago, it might be time for something new.
I’m Alyssa, a photographer based in North Saanich on the Saanich Peninsula. Most of my work is with families and couples, which means I spend my days helping people who don’t love being photographed feel relaxed in front of the camera. That same gentle direction makes a big difference in a headshot.
You don’t need to be a natural. You just need to show up. I’ll handle the angles, the light and the little prompts that turn a tense smile into a real one.

Headshots That Feel Like You
A good headshot is clear, current and approachable. It should look like the person a client will meet when they walk through your door. I keep my editing natural: every image is individually retouched with true skin tones, so you look polished but still recognizably yourself.
I’ll guide you through posture, expression and small adjustments as we go. We’ll take a variety of looks, from a classic straight-on frame to softer, more relaxed images that show a little personality.
We’ll keep the pace unhurried. Most people loosen up after the first few minutes, and that’s usually when the best frames happen, so there’s no pressure to get it right straight away.
- Individual headshots for professionals, consultants and job seekers.
- Updated profile photos for websites, social media and professional networks.
- Team headshots with a consistent look across your staff page.
- Author, speaker and bio photos.
How to Prepare for Your Headshot
A little preparation helps you walk in feeling confident. Think about where your headshot will be used, and dress the way you’d dress to meet an important client. Solid colours in mid to deep tones photograph well and keep attention on your face. Avoid busy patterns and bold logos.
We’ll choose a setting together. Soft natural light outdoors is lovely and flattering, and a simple, uncluttered background keeps the focus on you. If your workspace helps tell your story, we can talk about that too.
- Bring two or three tops so we can vary the look.
- Get a good night’s sleep and drink plenty of water the day before.
- Keep accessories simple and meaningful.
- Bring a small comb, lip balm and anything you use for quick touch-ups.
What You Receive
Your images are delivered in a private online gallery. You’ll receive full-resolution digitals with printing rights for your chosen images, so you can use them on your website, profiles and printed materials. You can see examples of my professional work in my business portfolio.
If you need more than a headshot, such as images of you at work, with your products or with clients, a personal branding session might be a better fit. I also offer portrait photography for graduates, teens and individuals, and if you’re closer to the north end of the Peninsula, see headshots in Sidney.
Questions families ask
I hate how I look in photos. Can you help?
Most people say that, and it’s exactly why I focus on gentle direction. Small changes in posture and expression make a big difference, and I’ll guide you the whole way.
Can you photograph our whole team?
Yes. Team headshots are a great way to give your website a consistent, professional look. Send me a message with how many people and where you’re located.
Will my headshot look heavily edited?
No. Every image is individually retouched with true skin tones. The goal is a polished, natural version of you.
Do you travel for headshots?
I’m based in North Saanich and work across the Saanich Peninsula and Greater Victoria. A travel fee may apply for locations more than 25 km from North Saanich.
What should I wear for a headshot?
Wear what you’d wear to meet an important client, in solid colours that flatter your skin tone. Bring two or three tops so we can vary the look, and we’ll choose favourites together as we go.
