Wedding Photographer in Victoria, BC

Natural, heartfelt photos of your wedding day, focused on the love between you and the people around you.

wedding photography, Weddings

Your wedding day goes by in a blur. You’ll remember the big moments, but so many of the small ones slip away: your dad’s face when he first sees you, your grandmother holding your hand, the quiet minute the two of you finally get alone. Those are the moments I live for.

I’m Alyssa, a lifestyle photographer based in North Saanich. I photograph weddings across Victoria and the Saanich Peninsula with the same approach I bring to every session. I focus on connection, emotion and story, and I let the photos unfold naturally rather than turning your day into a long list of stiff poses.

You’ll still have help. I’ll guide you through portraits with flattering angles and easy prompts, so you can relax and simply enjoy being married.

My Approach to Your Wedding Day

To me, wedding photography isn’t just about getting a pretty photo. It’s about nostalgia, bonding and the feeling of the day. That’s why you’ll often see couples in my images looking at each other instead of at the camera.

I aim to be unobtrusive during the important moments, so you and your guests can be fully present. When it’s time for portraits, I’ll step in, give gentle direction and keep things light. Nothing forced, no “say cheese” and no stress.

  • Candid moments of you, your families and your guests.
  • Relaxed couple portraits with guidance on where to stand, look and move.
  • Family groupings, including grandparents and the generations who made your day possible.
  • The details you planned so carefully, from flowers to heirloom jewellery.

Planning Your Wedding Photos

Good wedding photos start well before the day. We’ll talk about your plans, the people who matter most and any moments you don’t want missed. If you’d like a head start, my post on building a wedding day photo timeline walks through how to give each part of the day enough time and light.

Many couples also book an engagement session before the wedding. It’s a relaxed way to get comfortable in front of the camera and to get to know how I work, so you feel at ease on the big day.

If you’re planning something smaller, have a look at elopements and small weddings. And if you’re marrying close to my home base, my page for Sidney wedding photography has more local detail.

After Your Wedding

Every image is individually retouched and edited with true skin tones. Your photos are delivered in a private online gallery for you to view and share with family, and you’ll have full-resolution digitals with printing rights.

I also offer professional prints, canvases and albums. A wedding album is something I especially love, because it becomes an heirloom your children and grandchildren can hold in their hands one day.

I highly recommend Alyssa Orrego for all photography needs! She has done both my personal family photos and action photos for business marketing. She is extremely professional and the results speak for themselves. She delivers excellent photos!

Questions families ask

Do you photograph weddings outside Victoria?

I’m based in North Saanich and photograph across the Saanich Peninsula and Greater Victoria. Travel fees may apply for locations farther than 25 km from North Saanich, so just ask for details.

How do we check your availability and pricing for our date?

Send me a message with your date, location and a little about your plans. I’ll let you know my availability and the details for wedding coverage.

We’re awkward in front of the camera. Will that show?

Most couples feel that way at first. I’ll guide you the whole time with simple prompts, and an engagement session beforehand is a great way to practise.

Can our children or pets be part of the photos?

Of course. Kids and pets are family, and including them is one of my favourite parts of any celebration. Let me know ahead of time so we can plan the best moment to bring them in.

Can we take portraits somewhere outdoors near our venue?

Yes. Victoria and the Peninsula have beaches, forests and gardens close to many venues, and we’ll choose a spot that fits your timeline and the light. Parks have their own rules, so check the current rules before you go.
