Saanich Peninsula Photographer
One small peninsula, a whole range of backdrops, and a photographer who lives right in the middle of it.

The Saanich Peninsula is home for me. I live in North Saanich, and I spend a lot of my time exploring the beaches, forests and farm trails between Swartz Bay and the edge of Victoria.
As a Saanich Peninsula photographer, I offer family, maternity, newborn, couples and portrait sessions outdoors or in your home. My style is relaxed and connection-focused. I want you to feel something when you look at your photos, not just see a nice picture.
Most of the Peninsula falls inside my 25 km travel area from North Saanich. For spots farther south, a travel fee may apply, so just ask me when we talk about locations.

Pick your landscape
The best part of living here is how quickly the scenery changes. Here is how I usually help families decide.
Sea and sand: choose this if you want light, airy photos and space for kids to run. Sidney’s waterfront and Island View Beach are classic options.
Forest: choose this for rich greens, soft light and a cosy, storybook feel. North Saanich and Central Saanich both have beautiful old forest.
Fields and hilltops: choose this for big skies, long grass and golden evening light. These two places show off that side of the Peninsula well.
Whichever landscape you choose, I will suggest the time of day that suits it. Beaches and hilltops glow in the last hours before sunset, while forest trails often look their best when the sun is high enough to filter through the trees.
- The Lochside Regional Trail: a 29 km trail from Swartz Bay toward Victoria that runs alongside farmland, beaches and wetlands, passing through Sidney, North Saanich, Central Saanich and Saanich. Its rural stretches are perfect for that open-field look.
- Bear Hill Regional Park: a short, steep climb through Douglas-fir, Garry oak and arbutus to a summit that overlooks the Peninsula, Haro Strait and Mount Baker. Partway up, a lookout opens over Central Saanich farmland and the Malahat. There are no facilities, so this one suits adventurous couples and older kids.
Find your town
Each community on the Peninsula has its own character, and I have written a page for each one with the local spots I suggest most. Start with Sidney for the seaside walkway, North Saanich for old forest and heritage gardens, or Central Saanich for dunes and country trails.
If you live near the inlet, my Brentwood Bay page covers waterfront walks and Tod Inlet. Not sure where to start? We will figure it out together in your consultation.
Families in the Saanichton area can also see my Saanichton page, and anyone near the quiet inlet side of North Saanich will find ideas on my Deep Cove page.
How every session works
After you book, I send you a prep guide, a Pinterest style board for outfits and a fun questionnaire. We then have a free style and location consultation, where I share my tried-and-true spots and help you pick one that suits your family’s ages and energy.
On the day, I guide you through everything. Afterwards, you choose the package that fits, with a private online gallery, black and white versions and full-resolution digitals with printing rights.
If you would like prints, canvases or an album, I can order those for you on premium materials. The top two packages include a custom luxury album to pass down.
Questions families ask
Which Peninsula location is best for grandparents?
Flat, accessible paths are the way to go. The Sidney Waterfront Walkway and the accessible beachfront trail at Island View Beach are both good choices.
Do you do in-home sessions on the Peninsula?
Yes. In-home sessions are wonderful for newborns, cosy fall and winter family photos and anyone who would rather not load the car.
Can we combine two locations?
Sometimes, if they are close together and the session time allows. We can talk it through during your free location consultation.
When is the best season for photos here?
Every season has something. Spring brings fresh greens, summer gives long evenings, fall has warm colour and winter is perfect for in-home sessions.
Do you photograph outside the Peninsula?
Yes. I also work in Saanich, Oak Bay and around Victoria. A travel fee may apply for locations more than 25 km from North Saanich, so ask me for details.
Which Peninsula spot is best for a sunset session?
Hilltops and west-facing shorelines catch the last light best. Bear Hill gives a big view, and Patricia Bay in North Saanich looks across the water toward Salt Spring Island.
